Ted & Gina's Story

We recently received a brief for a Platinum diamond engagement ring from Ted. He wanted to choose a classic style engagement ring for his fiancé to be but he knew he didn't want the popular styles of a round brilliant cut or princess but rather something more unusual in shape, with a twist - also something with a touch of sparkle for his fiancé but at the same time understated.

Se the work began to present Ted wit a selection of our finest quality diamond rings and loose diamonds, presenting the various cuts of diamond and colours, qualities, and of course ring setting styles. After consideration, deliberation and gut instinct Ted decided on a loose Oval cut diamond to be mounted into a bespoke setting of his choice. The diamond he chose is an exceptional E colour oval cut diamond, which took care of the 'unusual part of the brief. Ted liked the idea of the diamond being visible on all sides allowing maximum light through and for the under bezel to be more minimal - the result a crossover under bezel 'the twist'.

'A touch of sparkle', this was something Ted wanted for his fiancé that would be the finishing touch to the ring, glistening diamonds set into the shoulders and tapering into the central diamond. We presented various styles such as channel setting and claw settings, Ted chose grain settings for the diamonds which not only gives the ring a more understated look but also a sophisticated vintage feel.

With this brief in mind out designers set to work in producing a detailed CAD image so ted was able to see exactly how the engagement ring would look before being produced, at this point any final adjustments could be made to the design before the production process which usually takes around four to six weeks.

Four weeks later we called Ted to advise him the ring was ready, excited to see it Ted came to the store right away and was blown away by the result, in his words 'it's perfect in every way'. He left the store with the ring and a plan hatched for the proposal whilst he and Gina were away on holiday. A few weeks later Ted emailed to say: "I have great news, Gina said yes!! She loves the ring and can't stop staring at it, Again thank you so much for all your help with it".
